Hate Preacher                        (4 min)

Hate preachers for too long have been fostering hate crimes. This
animated short takes a look at their destructive rhetoric and
encourages all of us to speak out to offset these fabrications.
Reasonable people must stand up and show that we are not
intimidated by their bullying or we will find ourselves living in a world of
their making. Purpose and Process Statement: After hearing so many
bizarre pronouncements from preachers of every persuasion I was
inspired to create this animation. The subject matter was down and
dirty, and the crude clay style seemed to lend itself to exposing these
grotesque characters, each one of whom ends up destroying
themselves by their hateful rhetoric. The experience was quite
cathartic for the animator and without literally harming anyone I was
able to release my anger. At the same time there are some very
beautiful and proactive scenes. When the children try to find their way
towards love and when the congregation gets up off their knees to
refute the preachers, I am especially glad that I made this short.

One night, the moon goes out while Leon and his pet squirrel Earl are
out fishing on the bayou. Cursing the darkness, the boy fishes on,

The Wishing Well              (12 min)

In this popup-book fairytale come to life, a wishing well armed with little
mechanical cups of love and happiness, beckons Sally, a delightfully-
awkward cherub of a woman. Her desperate little heart, masked
behind plump rosy cheeks, is about to be challenged with the promise
of love when she goes head-to-head with “The Wishing Well.” But
that is only half the story. “The Wishing Well” is actually an
experimental one-man production created by California based actor,
director Rod Maxwell. There was no crew, no one else behind or in
front of the camera. Maxwell transformed himself into all of the 26
men, women, and children that appear in the film. He created all the
prosthetics and fat suits, applied to himself, by himself, and then shot
each character in front of a simple greenscreen backdrop in his living
room, using a DV camera, with all post work done on an Apple
computer. It is a demonstration of what can be accomplished by one
person from within a home studio. Please visit www.

The World According to Sesame Street
(99 min)

The World According to Sesame Street explores the drama,
challenges and complexities behind producing international versions
of the world's most-watched children's television program. The film
follows productions in Bangladesh, Kosovo and South Africa and
examines how producers from New York's Sesame Workshop take
Sesame Street as we know it, and localizes it with indigenous songs,
puppets and curricula, all while facing cultural and production
challenges in each country. By the nature of their international work,
Sesame Workshop is forced to deal with the ramifications of being a
highly visible American company working in globally complex political
situations.
