Joana has the same dream as all young Brazilian
girls in the 80s: she wants to be a Paquita, a

she is black and Xuxa never had a black Paquita
on her team.

DEFYING DELETION                        21MIN

Defying Deletion sheds light on the systematic
ethnic cleansing, cultural genocide and
religious-based targeting the Assyrians have
endured hundreds of years before Iraq's inception.
But in today's war-torn Iraq, the difference
between the Assyrians and their Arab and Kurdish
oppressors is the use of physical violence by
these groups when they feel that their political
interests are being threatened. If democracy is to
have a future in Iraq, the Assyrians and other
indigenous minorities must have their rights
protected through sufficient representation and
policy making in the Iraqi parliament. With the
majority of Assyrians being situated in the historic
Nineveh Plains, Defying Deletion discusses the
case for Assyrian autonomy in this region.

Anne-Mette Bredahl has overcome many
obstacles in her amazing life. She tackled
blindness in her early 20s and survived a rare and
potentially fatal illness in her 40s. She was the first
blind person in Denmark to be trained as a clinical
psychologist. Never having skied before she went
blind, Anne-Mette became a Paralympic gold
medalist for Denmark in the biathlon and in cross
country skiing. She even won a competition when
she was 6 months pregnant. After just 10 weeks of
training following a major illness and the birth of
her son, she still qualified for the 2010
Paralympics in Vancouver, B.C. Anne-Mette has
excelled in life and sport. Her resilience and
perseverance are an inspiration to others.
